Liffting Apparatus From the Floor

Fixperts Project

This project was inspired by Michal—a remarkable woman who is paralyzed from the chest down and wishes to join her two young children as they play on the living room floor. Currently, she must reach the floor by effectively “falling” out of her wheelchair and then use the sofa to pull herself back up—an arduous and physically demanding process. In response, I developed a dedicated railing system designed to simplify and support Michal’s transition from the floor back to her wheelchair, making the process safer and more accessible.

To create this product, I crafted a framework using steel pipes that I bent and welded. The design includes a custom wooden seat, which I built myself, ensuring both durability and comfort. This combination of sturdy metalwork and personalized carpentry helps provide a secure and reliable transition aid for Michal.
In addition, I added a mechanism to detach the stool from the central compartment so that Michal can store the device conveniently.
